Sam Lee
Sam Lee is a venture capitalist, entrepreneur, and technologist whose story begins in Mokpo, South Korea, and in a Mississippi 5th-grade classroom where he arrived at age ten without speaking English. That early experience navigating language, culture, and identity shaped a lifetime of resilience and drive.
Today, Sam is the Founder and Managing Director of ESIF Capital and a veteran early-stage investor with more than three decades of experience building and backing technology companies. He has led over 60 investments, generating returns of more than $530 million across sectors including semiconductors, software, communications, and alternative energy.
Before founding multiple venture firms, Sam held engineering and leadership roles at IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and AMD, and later founded Alta Energy. He holds degrees from Mississippi State University, Texas A&M, and The Wharton School, and holds multiple U.S. patents.
